The merchants of Death-Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Boeing, General Dynamics, et al-gathered in Washington on Wednesday like a flock of vultures descending on roadkill.
“The Pentagon will host leaders from the top eight U.S. weapons manufacturers on Wednesday to discuss the industry’s capacity to meet Ukraine’s weapons needs if the war with Russia lasts years, two people familiar with the meeting said on Tuesday,” reports Reuters. “The Pentagon’s office of Acquisition and Sustainment, the weapons buyer for the U.S. Department of Defense, will host the 90 minute meeting and Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks was expected to attend, one of the people said,” according to the report. The specific issues discussed at the meeting are classified.
Hicks is of “liberal interventionist” pedigree, having earned her chops as a senior vice president and director of the international security program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a neocon-infested think tank initially funded by Richard Mellon Scaife, the late “Darth Vader” philanthropist of the religious right (Scaife bankrolled the American Enterprise Institute, a neocon think tank at the forefront of pushing the illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003).
